This block will prevent more than 500,000 people that use this ISP from France from accessing the chat rooms system. The main reason for this is the constant abuse we have been getting from some idiot who calls himself “Doctor12″ and similar names, coming into the room, and trolling with his hit and run messages about STDs /STIs. I engaged this user a while back about how his warnings about sexually transmitted diseases were incomplete, and amounted to posting un-asked-for medical advice, that was wrong. This troll has decided to return to the chat and continue to spread info that is not 100% accurate. After being told not to return, he still persists in posting his lame ass advice. I attempted to contact orange.fr ISP to complain about this abuse of our terms of service, but that ISP is not making it easy for me to file a complaint, and they have yet to return an email I sent about this user. The fact that organge makes it so difficult to find contact information, and file abuse complaints in English added to the situation in which I decided to simply block the entire ISP network.

If you are a regular users of the chat here, and you also use this ISP – you can send me an email (my email addy is posted on the moderator complaints page) with your IP addy, and I can look into a way to allow you to access once again. However understand that this will not be at the top of my priority list. I would like to see orange assign static ip address assignments to their users, and make contact about their abusive customers easier. Until they make it easier to hold people accountable for their actions, I have in interest in letting anyone from their network access our chat rooms. It is similar issues that caused us to redirect almost all Asia countries to a different chat system.

It’s bad enough when we get some people who do not follow the etiquette and rules we have outlined, and it’s another issue to have ISPs that do not make it easy to block bad users.

There is a chance that I would make the avatar pic feature available to premium members who donate to our cause, but that is not going to be possible for a couple weeks at the earliest.

In the meantime, that original sex chat rooms work fine without the avatar pics, and should actually work a bit faster as well. For those users who really want to have the avatar picture thing with screen names, then you can surf over to our sc peeps cams chat rooms and upload a custom avatar with your screen name there.

Still working on some other updates for the site as well. We will have more links and info about the sc peeps cams chat rooms more visible around the site so people will know if they want avatar pics, or do engage in voice chat, or video chat / cams chat – that option is only a click away. Of course you will need to register to get all the benefits of the cam chat there – but it’s fast and easy. This provides an easy place to share more with other users from the original chat, and keeps it more private than giving out skype addys or things like that. Estimated time for more updates? not sure at the moment – I’ve got a lot on my plate, and some things have deadlines I can’t put off any longer, it may be end of this month before we get some new things going, we’ll see.

Of course, there are those who don’t want to use the ‘new chat’ system for one reason or another, I get that. You can always upload a picture or two to your sex chat peeps profile (where you can also make some pics private so only friends that friend you in the peeps section can see them) – and if people in the chat rooms ask what you look like, send them a link to your sex chat peeps profile, or album there.

Some people are sure to love it, and at this point I am guessing just as many people will not be so happy about the return of our original sex chat system.

For those who are wondering what is going to happen to the new chat, the flashy chat, and the other chat systems we have been working on – don’t worry, we are keeping them open as well. The new chat will continue to get some enhancements, and we will merge it into the sex chat peeps section at some point. The flashy chat will also stay open, and likely get a few new improvements added as well. The other secret systems we have been working on are still in development, and may become available for some public testing soon as well.

For those who are excited about the original chat coming back to life in it’s previous forms, I must caution you that it may not last long. We are still in the process of adding more security and web server resources to it, but some of that depends on the financial support that we get from the community. We may find the original chat getting some added layers of integration with memberships in the future – but it may be moved to a lesser used section of the site at some point as well. One thing we can be sure of, the original chat’s days are numbered. It will not last forever in it’s undead form – it may only last a few days.

Of course we could get a few months out of it, but it is clear that many people are wanting features that will be impossible to incorporate into the original chat. As our other newer systems get some bugs worked out and some more features added – we will end up moving to one of the newer chat systems as the main default system at some point in the future.

Right now my main concern is speed with our newer chat systems, which is why we are working so hard on a new custom system that incorporates some of the original chat features, with some of the new chat features as well. The long term plan is to eventually move to a system or systems that allow for quick free chat, and also give options for users to pay for premium upgrades for more cam time, or better webcam quality, and some other goodies.

There is much more coming, I posted about some of these upcoming changes at sex chat space a while back, but not going to post the thousand things we are working on here right now.

It was a good ride. Many people enjoyed our old chat system, and I still believe that it was the best chat system ever made. It wasn’t perfect, but it was better than all the rest. We tested, bought, and attempted to deploy many different chat systems over the years, and the one system we stuck with for more than 10 years was always the best. The speed and modern look and feel made it the best chat system I have ever used.

Unfortunately people found ways to abuse it, and the cost of running it became too great. Over the years there were many times when we considered changing things. We considered making it registered users only, but found that the majority of people who came here wanted to try it out without registering. The non registration required chat rooms became very popular, and even with the problems we had maintaining it – the good connections that people made made it worth the bull shit we had to out up with, so we kept it that way.

In January of 2013 our chat system came under massive attacks and we spend a huge amount of time and money trying to shore it up, and get it running again. After fighting with web hosting issues and other problems it became clear that we would likely not be able to keep the chat rooms running the way we had in the past. Then on Feb 12 I found that users were trying to use our chat system in a way that eliminated the ads displayed, and sharing this information with other users here. This is a violation of our terms of service, and ultimately led to the final demise of my favorite chat system in the world.

The collateral damage to our other web sites (as described in the open letter to the hackers / DDoS attackers), the web sites of friends and other businesses hosted on our web server and at the same data center. The damage to my relationships at home, the damage to my savings account, the lack of sleep, the lack of anyone standing up to claim responsibility, the stress and headaches, all of these factors, and others were weighed time and time again. The support offered from so many in the comments and emails pulled on my heart strings quite hard as well.

I worked so hard for so many hours redeploying our systems it was insane. I had to turn down sex so many times to work on code updates that it’s just sick. After all this work and all this money spent, people still choose to abuse our services. Well they can all go find somewhere else to fuck around. I am done.

We have been providing these free, no registration required chat rooms for more than 10 years. I have seen many great relationships develop here using our system, and even though we had many problems to deal with over the years, as a community we decided to press on with things the way they were. If it were not for this great system many offline relationships would not have been created. Some weddings, and certainly a lot of cybersex between people all over the world were made possible by this great system.

Unfortunately we can not continue to use this system, we simply can not afford the time and money it would take to keep it going.

We have searched for other systems, and tested many of them. None of them are as good as the system we had running here for so long. It just does not seem feasible to keep this option going. I appreciate everyone who has commented here, on our scsc chat blog at wordpress.com, and emailed and offered support in our struggle to keep the chat going, and I really, really tried to make that happen. I do not think anything that we do in the future will recreate all the elements we had before, so I am bidding a farewell, a heavy hearted goodbye to the awesome communication platform so many of us had come to love.

There have been many suggestions over the years for making the chat system better, changing some things, and for doing things differently to keep it going. From what I have experienced over the years nothing is going to work to bring back our old chat community the way it was before. Every single change that is possible will bring limitations that will kill what we once had.

Forcing registration, setting up paid memberships, and many other ideas have their bonuses – but in the end, all of these things that start to make our chat rooms a walled garden will keep out the fresh faces that often become some of our best new additions. So I just don’t see doing any of these things as a quick fix attempt to keep things going as ultimately working.

For everyone who used our chat system responsibly, I hope you had a good time, and made some great connections. I will still post info for everyone to find each other on the scsc backup plans page as new places come up.

For all those people who chose to attack our chat system, and those that chose to find ways around our advertisements being displayed, well fuck you. You all ruined a great place that thousands of people depended on for communication, friendships, and relationships.

What does the future hold?
I have no idea at this point. I can tell you for sure, and without a doubt that we will not be bringing our old chat system back online.

We can not afford to fight the attacks on our systems, I do not see this changing anytime soon – although I did just read in the news that there may be some executive orders tomorrow that would create a new system of sharing info between private business and some of the federal agencies which may offer some opportunity for handling things like this in the future.

I am still working on some other projects. Some of these projects may find their way onto the scsc site, we’ll see. In the meantime I have to catch up on some other projects that are completely unrelated to sex chat, and have been overdue for some time.

I am truly sorry to have to shut down this system, this is something that I never wanted to do. I have fought so many times to avoid making our site paid members only, registration required, and other things that would of made it easier for me as an admin, and easier for our moderators. However with the recent issues, I simply can not fight any more. We could continue all these battles perpetually forever, but like the war games movie, at some point you have to realize that the only way to win a war like this is to not play the game.

I am going on very little sleep from the past month and half, and the past two days I have not been able to fall asleep, or stay asleep very long when it finally happened, with all of this stress and pressure. Seeing new projects that I spent weeks creating shut down in hours really sucks. Seeing the incredible community that has grown here for so many years dismantled by disgruntled, stupid, psycho trolling haters really bothers me. I just can’t keep putting off everything else in my life to fight a war that neither side is going to win. I respectfully bow out of the bullshit, and hope that others will remember what a great place and good times that everyone built here.

Using this url is a theft of services, and opens you up to civil liability.

With that being said, I am going to make an offer and some suggestions before taking my attorney’s advice to file lawsuits against offenders of our terms of service.

First off if you are using this url to chat in order to get around the /Asia redirect to erotic asia sexy chat then you need to read the information about why the Asia redirect was done posted here.

This will be the last and final nice offer to those people who try to get around our systems – the next time someone is caught going against our terms of service for page views or geo-location redirections, legal proceedings will be started.

The offer I am making is to create a more customized experience for the users who were using this url. If you want a truly advertisement free access to our chat, then you can offer to pay for premium access. If you do not want to pay for our service, then you can request a custom chat page if there is some other issue – there have been some suggestions made for a slightly less pornographic chat page – so we have created one. We have had some users say that their computer or their internet connection can not handle the high load of graphics and scripts needed to run our main chat page – and so we are making a light graphics, light load, fast and easy page for users to use that have those issues. Accessing the chat via the hidden url causes several issues. Users will miss important announcements that are posted on the site pages, we lose the stats counting ability that allows us to tailor our systems for a better user experience, and it costs us money, as advertisers see less page views in our site stats.

It’s really pretty simple – if we have no usage stats to prove to advertisers that we get a certain amount of page views and time spent on our site, then we lose ad revenue. If we lose ad revenue, and no one is willing to pay our bills, then we have no web site – and then you have no place to chat here.

Honestly people, I am very close to simply forcing a registration for all members and making people pay to use our service here – our bills are going up as we have to pay for a more powerful web server in order to provide these services, and yet our income is going down as people use nefarious methods to avoid page views showing in our stats for our site. It has taken, and continues to take a ton of time for us to present this site and maintain it, it also costs us money to provide these services, and to think that the people who benefit most from it are stealing from us makes me sick to my stomach.

Anytime we establish a system on a new web server there are possibilities of some hiccups. Let’s hope that this new system is solid from day one and we do not have to rebuild anything after this restart! I titled this post Monday evening, that is CST or EST – those of you between Europe and Australia will not see them chat rooms back up and running until Tuesday morning I guess. The American west coast may get to see the chat Monday afternoon (fingers crossed)!

No promises – I still have some more testing to do, but at the moment things seem to be running fine. I may have to run out to a dentist appointment Monday – but I do not anticipate any major delays from that. One thing I have learned though – I never know what they heck is going to be happening when I wake up the next day – so we’ll see!

So what’s new? Well we have a new feedback page for everyone to post comments with feedback about the chat rooms, and the site in general. We have a new web server running our old chat system now. This new server should be lean and fast enough to handle the amount of messages we put through the system. If anyone finds and issues with speed or anything when it gets busy, please let me know on the feedback page so I can look to see if we need to beef up the new web server with more ram or bandwidth or anything.

Our initial testing for the past few hours of the revamped sex chat rooms so far looks good.

I added a banner with info for people on the sex chat space web site letting them know the old chat is back, and how to get a full page reload / refresh in order to get the chat rooms to show up.

As of this post, the old emoticons are not showing up in the chat system. I am working on that, but it’s proving to be a bit more of an issue than it usually was with our old web server. Fingers crossed we’ll get our old sexy emoticons back within 24 hours. Of course when that happens we will have some users with the old emoticons, and some users with the new – which is a real lame situation, so we will need everyone to do another shift+reload when we get the new ones up, so that we are all on the same page.

I have already gotten questions about what we are going to do with the “new chat” system, and the flashy chat options. At this very moment I am not sure. We will need to decide by the end of the month when it comes time for me to spend another $300 for hosting the new chats. We decide to keep one or both them, and further integrate them into the site, or we may put them on hold while we work with some other upgrade options that I began several weeks ago. I can’t say at the moment, but it is something that I am thinking about.

Anyhow, glad to be back up and running, and I am glad everyone joined together to get the community back in touch and communicating while we went through the upgrade process. Now we have established some alternate places to meet up and communicate about issues should we have further issues with this chat system, and we got some really great feedback about our alternative options as well. I am going to still try to implement as many of the bug fixes and feature upgrades in the various chat systems to see how we could further integrate them, and see if using them in another way would benefit the community here in the future.

Still working on updates for our chat rooms systems as well! I will keep everyone posted when the next phase of things starts to roll out to the public! Looking forward to a more safe and secure year in 2013. It’s already started out with some challenges, that’s for sure! I haven’t worked this much since the days of managing clubs and building sites on the side.

Anyhow, if I can spend a good chunk of time doing updates, I would like to invite everyone else to take a few minutes and make sure their anti virus is up to date, and their operating system, and their browser and browser plugins. If you have not renewed your subscription to virus updates because it’s going to cost money, let me know! There are some great AV systems out now that are totally free, and I even have an extra copy of some premium AV software in the unopened box right here I will send someone if they are interested.

If you do not know how to check your browser and browser plugins for updates, mention that here, and I will find some info for your particular browser so you can be sure. If your windows is not up to date, then I hope you leave your car unlocked, and you home unlocked, and your windows open when you are not home too.

Computer security is everyone’s responsibility these days, get on it, and help your friends get on it.

I visited a friend’s parents place one day, and took a gander at their computer in the dining room just long enough to see that they have a notice about updating their AV software. I inquired why they would be hooked up to the internet in this unprotected way. Their answer was simple:

The anti-virus update costs money, and I do not have anything important on my computer anyways, so I could care less if someone got a virus on there and started looking the documents, they would only find pictures of grandma, nothing else.

So I had to think about their heritage for a minute. Then I explained, what if a virus was added to your computer and it was not looking for your pictures of grandma, but that virus was simply going to sit there, hidden and dormant until it’s owner decided to use it launch attacks on [Insert your family's home country here] – and they used all kinds of people computers at the same time for this reason?

Well that certainly changed their mind about how important anti virus software that actually worked was. I gleefully showed them options for updating what they had – or how to choose from two of the top notch totally free options to replace the one that came with their computer and was now simply bogging it down while asking for money for an upgrade each time they restarted.

Friends. Don’t let your friends’ computers attack others, check up on them and share some knowledge, it will take away some of the power from the bad guys out there.

The new tutorial has lots of pictures to help everyone along through the process. All this was done using firefox, so if you are using Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, etc – then it may look a little different, but I think the photos and the updated text will guide everyone along to handle it just fine.

This is a simple tutorial for using wordpress to create a blog post, upload an image, crop it, maintain a square aspect ratio, save the image as a thumbnail, publish a post (even privately), and get the url needed for our chat rooms. Starting the updates I had thought I would get them all done in less than 10 minutes, but one thing led to another. I am guessing the peeps section has been mostly unavailable to most users for more than 45 minutes now. This is much longer than I wanted, and if I had known is was going to be this many patches and new code snippets to update, I would of probably waited until much later in the night.
