add your avatar / pic for the java chat room

Here are a couple of ways to add an avatar pic to the site / for the sex chat room.

I intend to post some screen caps and maybe a video to show more details about these methods.

The fast way:

Go to the quick upload gallery and near the top there will be text for “Add Avatar / Pic” – click that and you will have a little form pop up asking to find the file and add a caption, do that and click submit. Once you do that, they system should upload your pic to our server, and automatically crop the image to 80 x 80 pixels. Then you should be able to return to the quick upload gallery and see your pic thumbnail there. Right click on the image and “properties” (Internet Explorer), or  “view image info” (firefox). The “url” or image location will look something like:  https://www.sexchatsexchat.com/peeps/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/bbs-bounce-2-80×80.gif

Copy that, and that is the url you enter in the advanced chat room login screen to have your avatar show in the chat room.

There are some limitations with this fast way of doing it. First off I found that it does not auto-resize gif animated images well – second, if your image is not square, it will cut off part of your original image. Also, your image will be publicly viewable by the world, and you will have no way to delete it or remove it.

A better way – cropping, and private saving method –

This method is a little more complicated, but it does allow you to crop the part of the image that you want to use for your avatar, and gives you more control of the final picture that is saved to the system, as well as allowing you to hide or delete the images when you want to.

This section of the site is for users to find an easy way to host avatars and pics for the chat rooms and our forums. Use of this section is subject o the overall site’s terms of use. Pictures will be deleted at my discretion, do not add any pics that include beastie or underage stuff.

This is a quick setup to make it easier for people to upload pics, and not have to worry about following photobucket’s prude terms of service. More details, graphical instructions, and an easier post writing layout will be added soon. I am also working on a method to display short urls for the images, and a few other cool things.
