Here you can upload your avatar pic quickly.
At the end of this post (above the bigger words Gallery: Quick Upload) or there-abouts, there is an set of words (in white, and centered) for “Add Avatar / Pics” – click that to upload here.
You will have a little form pop up asking to find the file and add a caption, do that and click submit. Once you do that, the system should upload your pic to our server, and automatically crop the image to 80 x 80 pixels. Then you should be able to return to the quick upload gallery and see your pic thumbnail there.
Right click on the image and “properties” (Internet Explorer or “view image info” (firefox). The “url” or image location will look something like:
Copy that. That is the url you enter in the advanced chat room login screen to have your avatar show in the chat room.
Note – that if you look below this post and see a bunch of pictures, then your pic should appear below here, in this gallery after your upload – you may have to reload / refresh the page to see your pic show up. Also note – if you look below this post and you just see one image, with something like (Quick Upload 2513) above it – then your uploaded image will appear in THAT gallery page, so you will need to click the gallery image / text (or just click and go here ) to see the gallery, and your pic.
If you upload a picture here to use in the chat rooms and forums as your avatar, the picture will be publicly viewable here in this gallery. I am not sure how users would be able to delete pictures from here at this time either.
If your original picture is not perfectly square, then the server created thumbnail may be stretched, or cropped – we have a slightly longer method that gives you options to crop your pic and make it square or show the part of your original that you prefer. If you use the “longer method” of adding a picture, you will have the options to crop, resize, hide and at any time login and delete your posts / pictures.
The quick upload gallery has been removed as we develop new methods for users to add pictures in new ways. We will post info about this in the near future.
